Energy & Cost Impacts: Fault Detection and Diagnostic Systems

Between 2016-2020, DOE’s Smart Energy Analytics Campaign gathered the most comprehensive dataset available on Energy Management Information Systems (EMIS) costs and benefits, working with more than 100 industry partners. Analysis done during the campaign shows that the median energy saving for FDD was 9% and had a 2-year simple payback. This significant, data-driven demonstration of cost and energy savings illustrates the impact of analytics and the possibilities of increased energy efficiency without significant investment in building upgrades.
