The Green Technology Laboratory at UC Davis studies the behavior of lithium-ion batteries with varying chemistries under a wide range of operating conditions. Using experimental data, the team creates battery models, test procedures, controls, and more. The team also integrates lithium-ion batteries with other electrical components to create grid-connected energy storage systems. Thus, the Green Technology Laboratory utilizes concepts from several fields of study, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and thermodynamics, to enable the transition to more sustainable energy systems.
