Saint-Gobain Solar Gard Ecolux 70
The Saint-Gobain Solar Gard Ecolux 70 is a low-emissivity spectrally selective film. Its low-emissivity properties improve thermal insulation and its spectrally selective properties provide a high degree of solar control, with minimal impact on daylight transmission and views. This film has a very high light to heat ratio.
Hub Highlights:
- Minimal impact on views due to high visible light transmission
- Spectral selectivity provides a high (greater than 1) light/heat ratio
- Rejects more than 50% of solar heat
- Low-emissivity properties provide moderate reduction in winter heat losses

Light/heat ratio | 1.46 |
Installation Procedure | Pre-installation: low-e film may not be suitable to high traffic areas, high humidity areas, areas with high salt exposure, and areas where the indoor-facing surface of the film may be exposed to direct sunlight. Installation procedure: Same as for non-low-e film but requires more careful handling due to more sensitive nature of film, and additional squeegeeing due to lower permeability. Post-installation: Same as for non-low-e film but air bubbles may persist for longer (i.e., several months), depending on environmental conditions. In some cases, film replacement may be necessary. |
Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Procedures | Care of low-e films is similar than other window films, with the main difference that low-e films can be more prone to showing fingerprints and other oily marks and may need to be cleaned more carefully. |

Usability and performance
How will the appearance of window and interior space change after film installation?
The amount of daylight entering the space through windows will be slightly reduced. This may not be easy to discern by the casual observer. Reflections of the interior on the window surface may become slightly more noticeable.
Installation
How long does it take to install?
Window film installation depends on several factors, including how accessible the window is, how tall it is, and window film type. This film type requires more careful handling and more vigorous mechanical action during installation; the installation procedure takes a little longer than when installing a standard film.
Installation
How long does it take for air bubbles to disappear after installation?
Depending on the weather, up to several months.
Maintenance
What are the impacts on window cleaning procedures?
Paper towels, bristle brushes, or abrasive/ammonia-based cleaning agents are to be avoided in order to keep the film's clear appearance. Low-e films like this one can be more prone to showing fingerprints and other oily marks and may need to be cleaned more carefully.
